MEDICINAL CANNABIS FLOWERS AND OILS

The process of obtaining a medical cannabis prescription in Australia is not a clear and simple process. Many doctors are new to this medication and do not understand how it works or where to get all of the information and products.

There are 4 basic requirements to get you started:

• Learn about CBD and THC

• Are you eligible for medicinal cannabis?

• Choose your pathway (how can you access medicinal cannabis?)

• Talk to your Doctor or Specialist

We recommended that you start with your GP. Your GP knows your complete medical history.​ In every state of Australia (except Tas), a GP can prescribe medical cannabis as long as you meet the eligibility criteria.

Your doctor will go onto an online portal provided by the Therapeutics Goods Association (TGA) with the following information:

1. The patient's diagnosis and indication for which the cannabis product is to be used

2. A thorough clinical justification for the use of the product.

3. Sufficient safety and efficacy data to support the use of the product.

4. Details on how the patient will be monitored for adverse events and different patient responses to the treatment.
